Chaque année, la Fête de la Musique du Centre Culturel Irlandais rassemble dans la cour plusieurs milliers de personnes dans une atmosphère des plus chaleureuses et festives. Une fois n’est pas coutume, le CCI accueillera en 2024 trois groupes, traduisant à nouveau la grande richesse de la jeune scène musicale irlandaise. Comme l’an passé, cette édition mettra un accent particulier sur les musiques traditionnelle et folk : Lemoncello, Bog Bodies et Strange Boy font souffler un vent de fraîcheur, ajoutant des sonorités contemporaines à leurs racines irlandaises. Oscillant entre force, audace et sensibilité, ceux-ci nous offriront à coup sûr une nouvelle soirée inoubliable… Un rendez-vous à ne surtout pas manquer !

Lemoncello (indie folk)

Laura Quirke et Claire Kinsella forment Lemoncello, établi au sein du paysage folk alternatif depuis déjà quelques années. Le duo a joué en première partie et collaboré avec des artistes estimés, tels Glen Hansard, Lisa O’Neill, Cormac Begley ou Joshua Burnside. Toutes deux chanteuses et musiciennes, Laura et Claire insufflent à leurs mélodies de délicates touches traditionnelles, pop, jazz, de musique classique, et même de chanson française. Après plusieurs singles et EP loués par la presse, elles ont récemment signé sur l’emblématique label Claddagh Records, où sortira en mai un premier opus très attendu. Pour démarrer cette Fête de la Musique en douceur, ce duo des plus talentueux nous fera entendre ses nouvelles compositions aux somptueuses harmonies vocales, enveloppées des cordes envoûtantes de leurs guitare et violoncelle.

Bog Bodies (trad-rock)

L’ascension fulgurante de Bog Bodies sur la scène musicale est marquée par des concerts à guichets fermés dans toute l’Irlande ; ses performances sont réputées pour leur énergie brute, décrites par beaucoup comme « transcendantes ». Originaire du Tipperary, le groupe mené par Dan Maher a sorti un premier enregistrement, « Reclaim the Ritual », en 2022. Mêlant entre autres instruments guitare, banjo, bodhrán, flûte, harmonium…, leurs morceaux évoquent la mythologie et les terres ancestrales, en y infusant des problématiques contemporaines. Le style distinctif de la formation ouvre une nouvelle voie, entre musique traditionnelle, folk alternatif et rock celtique, teintée d’influences world. En live, les cinq musiciens déploient leur ardeur joyeuse, exaltante, tribale, qui nous transporte aussitôt vers des temps anciens…

Strange Boy (trad hip-hop)

Imaginez la fusion improbable entre musique traditionnelle et hip-hop… et vous obtenez Strange Boy ! Ses refrains sont le son de la créativité irlandaise moderne : des textes sensibles et percutants et un flow unique qui font de lui l’un des rappeurs les plus importants de sa génération. Décrit comme un vieux poète qui s’exprime à travers le corps d’un jeune homme, il combine avec inventivité et sophistication rap et musique irlandaise. En 2021, son premier album, « Holy / Unholy », fait rapidement sensation et reçoit un accueil critique triomphal. Deux ans plus tard, Strange Boy est le lauréat du prestigieux Liam O’Flynn Award. L’artiste de Limerick s’est produit dans de nombreux festivals en Irlande et à l’étranger. Entouré pour ce premier concert en France de pas moins de sept musiciens traditionnels émérites, il nous offrira une performance inédite et flamboyante qui viendra électriser la fin de cette Fête de la Musique !
