Yoga workshop – Healthy back and pain relief asanas, 26 novembre 2016 14:00, DGI-huset i Nordkraft

Last workshop of the series. Tomorrow Saturday 26th November at DGI NOrdkraft (2pm to 4pm), join us for a practice focusing on back pain relief and healthy spine! We will have a look at specific asanas and breath work. Practice and understand your practice!

26th Nov: HEALTHY YOGA FOR BACK PAIN
All levels – 2 – 4pm
This workshop is not designed to get rid of your pain in two hours – miracles do happen however… Mostly, this workshop will focus on common postural misalignments, their effects on our structure and muscles, and how Yoga can target and release pain, through movements, breath and intention. We will be covering general anatomical principles to address lower back pain, shoulder pain and neck pain, for you to develop your Yoga practice in the healthiest and most beneficial way.

VANILLE SIMEON
is a French Vinyasa Yoga, Yin Yoga and Partner Acrobatics teacher, and she is also a massage therapist. Former Arts Manager, she taught in diverse yoga centres and spas around the world, and founded The Maitri Movement to offer a platform to a collective of teachers and practitioners to share their skills and passion during workshops and retreats.

Building a smart & healthy Yoga practice starts with understanding what we are doing and how it impacts us. Those three workshops of 2hrs will include movements, breath work and other mindfulness practices to build up our practice in the most beneficial way. Come and join the fun!

YOGA FOR STRESS MANAGEMENT
November 12th 2016 – 2.15 – 4.15pm – All levels
This workshop will explore how Yoga can impact on the structure of our brain, training the stress circuit and rewiring new connections to balance emotions, build up our resilience and capacity to cope with the challenges of our daily life. How to release the stress stored in our bodies? And what does bending your body into yoga poses do to your nerve connections? We are building on the mat the space and the time we need.
This workshop will cover different tools: Yoga movement, breath work and other mindfulness practices.

19th Nov : INVERSIONS & HAND BALANCING POSES
All levels – 2.15 – 4.15pm
Balancing our bodies on different parts – on our hands, heads, forearms… – generates the most amazing sensations. It also affects us in many ways! Extending our comfort zone, trusting our abilities, trying new things, overcoming fears and developing patience and confidence. We are building our strength, resilience and adaptation skills; physically, emotionally and mentally. This workshop is addressing all students wanting to practice and learn inversions and hand balancing poses. We will be exploring a diversity of poses; from crow, to headstands, shoulderstand, and other arm balances, focusing on safety, breaking down step-by-step and understanding the principles of inverted asanas, both on an anatomical level and their extended benefits.
