Oslo World samtale: Mashrou Leila (LB), 4 novembre 2016 12:00, Kulturhuset
ARTIST TALK: مشروع ليلى Mashrou’ Leila (LB)
Moderator: Arne Berg – journalist NRK P2
The Lebanese indiepop band Mashrou ́ Leila is probably the biggest band from the Arabic world right now. The reason why Mashrou Leila is quite possibly the biggest band from the Arabic world at the moment – they sold out the great Barbican in London last year and have adorned the front page of the Middle-Eastern edition of Rolling Stone – is due to their refusal to fit the framework that persecutes many musicians from the region.
At Kulturhuset this afternoon the band will talk about how they use their personal life experience and identity to write music and how it is to be one of the most rapidly growing indiepop band in the world. This will be their first visit to Norway.
