BCUC Concert Transmusicales
From Tumi Mogorosi to Petite Noir, from DJ Mujava to Spoek Mathambo and BLK JKS or Skip&Die (all of them performed at the Trans), South Africa is a paradise for those who are longing for innovative sounds. Here is another evidence of it with BCUC (standing for Bantu Continua Uhuru Consciousness). The collective is from Soweto which is in the outskirts of Johannesburg. The six musicians define their music as an « indigenous funky soul ».
The songs of BCUC tackle the everyday lives of townships with a catchy energy, zulu whistles, electric guitars, traditionnal percussions, thunderous rap, men and women backing vocal, reggae rhythms and a psychedelic fin. Once again, South Africa is at the centre of modern pop.
